Rider Bios
Jo and I have been riding together for over 10 years, and Jon consistently since about age four! This October, Jon will complete his second Tour de OROC, and we’ll be riding side-by-side for a great cause.
Macquarie Home Stay is a vital facility providing low-cost accommodation for people from far western NSW who must travel to Dubbo for medical care.
Much like Ronald McDonald House in Sydney, Macquarie Home Stay is a home away from home for:
Expectant mothers (over 50% of babies born in Dubbo come from outside the Dubbo LGA)
Day surgery patients
Those needing treatment at Dubbo Base Hospital before or after admission
Parents, partners, carers, and children undergoing various treatments
Our own family has benefited from a similar facility in the past, so we know first-hand the comfort and relief it brings to country families during difficult times.
The bi-annual Tour de OROC (Orana Region Outback Challenge) will take us from Dubbo through Warren, Macquarie Marshes, Nyngan, Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett, and Coonamble, alongside 30+ other riders. Each rider has pledged to raise funds for Macquarie Home Stay — our goal is $2,500.
