The Toyota Tour de OROC, an initiative of the Rotary Club of Dubbo South, is a unique biennial cycling event running from 6 to 12 October 2025. Covering more than 800 kilometres across the Orana Region, it is one of the longest and most rewarding charity rides on the Australian calendar.

First held in 2013, the ride was established to raise funds for Macquarie Home Stay—an essential accommodation facility for people from regional and remote communities needing medical treatment in Dubbo. Since then, the Tour and the Rotary Club of Dubbo South have contributed over $1 million towards the facility, which officially opened its doors in 2019.

Funds raised through this year’s ride will support the Stage Three expansion of Macquarie Home Stay, which includes the addition of much-needed family accommodation. Your involvement not only helps make this vision a reality, but also demonstrates to government and funding bodies that this is a project backed wholeheartedly by the community.

Rider Bio

When I first started road bike riding about ten years ago, I was raw but keen. Very early morning rides with Dubbo Social Cyclers was the order of those days. Then, it was participation in three Tour de OROC events in 2015, 2017 and 2019, as well as a Canberra-Dubbo Zoo2Zoo and various 'Classics'. The profile picture of me with chicken-wire Leo at Taronga Western Plains Zoo was taken during a ride in recent times.

These days I'm a more relaxed rider with the Dubbo Old Farts group of retiree cyclists, riding much later in the mornings. Rather than stress my old body for six days straight, I've decided to ride for one day, or possibly two, but no more. I am being sponsored by Christies Accountants & Advisors.

I believe that supporting Macquarie Home Stay is a no-brainer. With only limited medical facilities in the remote parts of the Orana Region, subsidised accommodation for outlying residents needing medical attention in Dubbo is an essential need.
